The Rise of Dalek Architecture

Updated: May 8

The Ecotopia 2121 Project details the futures of 100 cities across the globe as they fight to overcome all the grave geo-political and socio-environmental challenges of the 21st century. As part of this process, we highlight the inevitable rise of Dalek Architecture.

The Dalek's first invaded Earth from the planet Skaro in 1963. These cyber-mutants were hell-bent on overtaking the world via various techno-fascist means. Sometimes this involved plans to eliminate humanity and sometimes it merely involved the enslavement of all human brains and bodies.

Fortunately, another powerful 'humanity-friendly' alien from the planet Gallifrey arrived on Earth at about the same time -- with a recently-awarded doctoral degree in time-travel. This guy, Dr. Who, acted to thwart the Daleks' progress and then he plunged them toward extinction.

Well, at least this is the storyline of various Dr. Who TV shows.

Unfortunately, all by themselves, humans in the 21st century have now embraced the techno-fascist style that the Dalek's were hoping to force upon the Earth. Arising from Silicon Valley, then working via the insidious subscription services offered by the likes of Meta, Microsoft, Tesla, Amazon, Netflix, SpaceX, and Google, the Dalek's spirit of overbearing techno-control has worked its way across all realms of the human world. As well, Dalek culture is slowly infiltrating the cultures of humanity.

As part of this cultural expansion as the 21st century wears on, the Dalek visage will become celebrated as an 'Icon of the Future'; making its way into the architectural patterns of the world's cities. By the late 21st century, Dalek architects will busily mix and match various temporal moods as they absorb the time-travelling skills of Dr. Who. And by the 22nd century -- as the gallery below attests -- this Dalek Architecture ascends to dominate the urban landscapes of all the world.
